Ukraine wins U-20 World Cup

Ukraine recovered from the shock of falling behind to an early penalty as they beat South Korea 3-1 to win the under-20 World Cup final in Poland on Saturday.

A brace from the 19-year-old Dynamo Kiev player Vladyslav Suphriaha, and an emphatically finished goal from Heorhiy Tsitaishvili sealed the win for Ukraine and making them win the prestigious title for the first time, succeeding the England side who won in 2017.

Though the Koreans took early lead in Lodz in central Poland, with Valencia starlet Lee kang-in converting a fifth-minute penalty awarded following a VAR preview after Kim Se-Yun had been fouled right on the edge of the box.

However, Ukraine levelled in the 34th minute through a fine Supriaha's turning and brilliantly slotting the ball home after the Korean defence had failed to clear a free-kick.

The same player also gave Ukraine the lead on the 53rd minute, with Heorhiy closing the books a minute from time after scoring a fine finish.
